Three Banks and Five MFIs Fined for Financial Violations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In October 2025, the Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan held seven meetings, reviewing 24 agenda items and making corresponding decisions.
Among these, 14 matters concerned registration and licensing, including amendments to credit institutions’ charters, registration of new microfinance organizations (MFIs), removals from the registry, approvals for ownership stakes in credit institutions, and the appointment of supervisory board and management members in commercial banks and key personnel.
Ten items addressed the financial health of credit institutions, compliance with prudential norms and Central Bank instructions, results of inspections of commercial banks and MFIs, consumer protection, and anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF), and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) prevention measures.
As a result, one bank and one payment organization received warnings about potential sanctions. Fines were imposed on three banks, five MFIs, and two payment organizations for violations of AML and CTF requirements.
Additionally, shareholder companies TEZPAY and NATIONAL PAY have had certain payment services and operations restricted, including electronic payment processing and money transfers via payment systems, for a six-month period starting from 13 November 2025.
