Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 June, a regular meeting of the working group on the restoration of 12 historical gates of Tashkent was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Khokim of Tashkent Fakhriddin Davrukov.
Experts participated in the work - Doctor of Architecture, Leading Researcher of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Abdumannop Ziyaev, Director of the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, Professor Jannat Ismailova, Deputy Director of the Department of Digital Development, scientific director of the HisTashkent project Kamoliddin Fayzullaev and others.
Conceptual issues were discussed in the first part of the meeting. The main ones are:
• How to combine tourist attraction and historical authenticity of objects? And is it worth striving for historical conformity? Is it possible to build a modern structure, conditionally resembling an ancient gate?
• Gate locations are built up. Is it necessary to strictly observe the historical location or is it permissible to move the gate to an empty place?
• How to optimally combine the constructed gates with the surrounding buildings, roads, parks, canals?
• Will the gate be a single building or a tourist complex including museums, guard figures, souvenir shops, hunarmand shops and other related infrastructure facilities?
In the second part, projects developed by the Engineering Company of the Single Customer Service were considered for the location of the gates and their harmony with the surrounding urban landscape. It was decided to take the company's proposals as a basis for further work.
On each issue, proposals were made and opinions were collected. The working group will continue to meet to develop an optimal solution, the results of which we will report.
The project of recreating the 12 gates of Tashkent is being implemented in accordance with the State Program of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026”.
