The Uztextileprom Association holds meeting with the head of Arvind Limited
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the invitation of the Uztekstilprom Association, the delegation of the largest textile industry company in India, Arvind Industries, is in Uzbekistan.
The visit of the Indian delegation is organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in India.
As part of work to further expand trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and India, a meeting was held with the chairman of the Indian textile company Arvind Limited S. Lalbai.
Along with the production of textile products, the company operates in the field of agriculture, the provision of telecommunications services, engineering and real estate.
The sides discussed information about the new economic and investment policy implemented by the leadership of Uzbekistan, the conditions created for foreign investors, as well as the possibilities for implementing cluster projects in the textile sector. At the same time, the Indian side was informed about the technology of knockout of cotton genes developed by Uzbek scientists.
At the same time, the leadership of Arvind Limited sees new prospects for cooperation with Uzbekistan, "especially against the background of large-scale reforms and economic liberalization in the country."
In particular, according to S. Lalbai, the creation of an agro-textile cluster (growing and processing cotton, producing textile products) is of practical interest for Arvind Limited. At the same time, the Indian side is interested in a wider acquaintance with the technology of knockout of cotton genes and the possibilities of commercialization of this technology.
In order to study in detail the investment opportunities, especially in the field of creating textile clusters, S. Lalbay expressed readiness to send an expert group to Arvind Limited to Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the agreements reached in India in September of this year, the expert group of Arvind Limited of the Agro Business Director (Pragnesh Shah) and the Director of Strategic Planning (Samir Agrawal) visited Uzbekistan on 18-21 December.
The purpose of the group visit is to carry out calculations and marketing research.
As part of the stay of the delegation, meetings are planned at the Uztextileprom Association , the State Investment Agency, the Ministry of Innovations, and a visit to Syrdarya region.
