The Uzbekistan Tax Committee Comments on Claims of “Hidden Benefits for Yandex”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Responding to social media posts alleging possible “hidden tax benefits” for Yandex, the Uzbekistan Tax Committee issued an explanation emphasizing the transparency and openness of the national tax system.

According to the Committee’s official statement, modern digital tools allow both citizens and businesses to monitor their tax obligations in real time through personal online accounts and the electronic tax database. The Committee also regularly publishes sector-specific tax revenue dynamics in infographic format on its official platforms.

The Tax Committee reported that for January–September 2025 it published a ranking of the top 20 service-sector enterprises by taxes paid, which included YandexGo UB. The company’s revenue for this period increased by 45.5% compared to the same period in 2024.

The launch of the M Market marketplace on the local market resulted in higher expenditures, amounting to 51.1% of revenue — a common pattern, the Committee noted, when new consumer-market projects are being introduced.

As a result, the company’s total tax payments decreased compared to January–September 2024 by 14.3 billion soums, including a 24.1-billion-soum decline in profit tax.

The Tax Committee reaffirmed its readiness for ongoing cooperation with the media and social media users to ensure accurate and timely communication on tax matters.
