The US Appoint Co-Chair of the U.S.-Uzbek Business and Investment Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The United States has appointed Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor as co-chair of the newly established U.S.-Uzbek Business and Investment Council, the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent said in a statement. On the Uzbek side, the co-chair is Said Mirziyoyev, Head of the Presidential Administration.

According to the statement, the creation of the council represents “an important step in advancing the ‘America First’ economic agenda in Central Asia and opens new opportunities for American workers, innovators, and businesses.”

The agreement to establish the council was reached during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the United States on 4–6 November as part of the “C5+1” summit.

The council will focus on expanding investment and export opportunities for both countries, developing fast-growing sectors including information technology and digital innovation, and creating a level playing field for American exporters.

U.S. representatives noted that Sergio Gor’s appointment reflects President Donald Trump’s commitment to strengthening U.S. economic leadership and expanding access for American companies, ensuring that international partnerships deliver tangible benefits to the American people.

The statement highlights that the recent visit of President Mirziyoyev to Washington provided “a powerful impetus to bilateral relations,” and that Sergio Gor visited Uzbekistan in October, meeting with the President, the Head of the Presidential Administration, and other officials.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree establishing the U.S.-Uzbek Business and Investment Council, which will serve as a new platform to strengthen the strategic economic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States.
