Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The twenty-fifth plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan ended in Tashkent.

Senators, on the agenda of the twenty-fifth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, heard a report by the khokim of Navoi region on the development of territories and the activities of local councils of people’s deputies.

Detailed information was provided on the work carried out to comprehensively develop the region, attract and develop investments, organize free economic and small industrial zones, develop small businesses and expand exports, eliminate problems in the communal sphere, create new jobs, and ensure the implementation of state programs.

It was noted that based on the tasks identified during the visits of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the region, 2693 projects were implemented for a total of 2.9 trillion. soums, created more than 17840 new jobs. By attracting investments in 8 small industrial zones, 96 projects were implemented for a total amount of 332.6 billion soums and about 600 new jobs were created.

In the region, large-scale work is being carried out as part of the implementation of the state programs “Kishlok Rim”, “Mahalla Rim”, “Yoshlar - kelajagimiz”, “Har bir oil - tadbirkor”. Actual socio-economic issues are resolved with the participation of local councils of people’s deputies. Over the past two years, more than 130 socio-economic issues have been discussed at sessions of local Kengashes of People’s Deputies.

In addition, the local Kengashes of People’s Deputies heard reports of more than 300 officials, sent more than 250 deputy inquiries and appeals to the appropriate structures in order to solve urgent issues, problems that concern the population.

Along with this, senators focused on taking the necessary measures to solve the problems existing in Navoi region, in particular, issues related to road repair, continuous supply of electricity, construction of drinking water networks and sewer systems, development and improvement of communal infrastructure.

It was emphasized that only in the city of Zarafshon there is a need for the construction of two transformer substations with a capacity of 125 MW. In Zarafshan, Uchkuduk and Khatirchi districts, it is necessary to build water networks, in the center of Karmana district - to build a modern sewer system.

In addition, there are problems associated with the health system. So, in remote and large areas of the region, such as Tamdi and Uchkuduk districts, without taking into account the relatively fragmented territory of the population, the ambulance service is established in the same way as in other areas. That is, the primary factor is not taken into account that the settlements are located tens of kilometers from each other, but only the population. This situation leads to serious difficulties for both medical professionals and patients.

After analyzing these and other shortcomings, senators pointed out the need to strengthen the interaction of local authorities, responsible ministries and departments in solving these problems, as well as increasing the activity of local Kengashes. An appropriate resolution has been adopted on this issue.

Then the senators considered the results of the parliamentary inquiry sent to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the problems associated with the discharge of wastewater into water bodies.

It was emphasized that the response to the parliamentary request stated that systematic work was being carried out to fulfill the tasks set in this area.

In particular, the Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities, together with ministries and departments with the assistance of international consultants, is developing a draft Concept for the development of water supply and sanitation in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2035. In accordance with this Concept, it is planned to construct water treatment facilities with a capacity of 757 thousand cubic meters of sewage per day, construction of 8605 km of sewer collectors and networks, and reconstruction of treatment facilities with a capacity of 906 cubic meters, 2176.2 km of sewer collector networks, 128 pumping stations and 11 decontamination facilities.

To carry out all these activities, loans of international financial institutions and the republican budget will be spent on 14.6 trillion soums. As a result, the level of provision with sewer services in the republic will be brought up to 31.4%. An appropriate resolution has been adopted on this issue.

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan considered other issues related to its powers.

During the twenty-fifth plenary session, 17 issues were considered, including 11 laws aimed at strengthening the legal foundations of all spheres of society and increasing the efficiency of large-scale transformations carried out in the country, and the development of international cooperation.
