The Swedish Pracademic is Catalyzing Women’s Entrepreneurship in Central Asia’s Higher Education
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — After weeks of dedication and hard work, the “Catalyzing Women’s Entrepreneurship in Higher Education” initiative emerged as a flagship of empowerment in Central Asia. Hosted by Karaganda Industrial University, the program offered young women a unique platform to transform ideas into action, strengthen leadership skills, and embrace the mindset required to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. The initiative inspired entrepreneurial thinking and aligned with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s vision and Kazakhstan’s commitment to sustainable development, reflecting the nation’s determination to foster innovation, inclusivity, and excellence.
Powered by Mr. Alex Matrsson, a Swedish Pracademic, Initiative Founder, and Honorary Patron, the program cultivated ambition, confidence, and leadership. The goal was to encourage young students to feel big, think big, and do big. The program’s significance was further elevated by the presence of Dr. Kadisha Onalbayeva, a celebrated Kazakh pianist, composer, and educator. Her keynote address ignited the participants’ ambition, illustrating how excellence, creativity, and determination can open doors to extraordinary possibilities. Students left inspired, ready to pursue bold ideas and meaningful impact. Outstanding participants were recognized with the Certificate of Global Competence, celebrating their remarkable performance. The acknowledgment highlighted their innovation, dedication, and ability to develop excellent projects with both local and global relevance.
The initiative unfolded through four transformative events. The opening seminar, led by Mr. Alex Matrsson, offered essential insights into business, innovation, and entrepreneurship. During the business clinic, student teams presented their preliminary ideas and received personalized mentorship, refining their projects for real-world impact. The high-impact pitch session allowed participants to showcase their ventures before a selection committee, demonstrating creativity, strategy, and professional communication. The final celebration, Rise and Lead, honored exceptional students with awards, inspiring speeches, and interactive sessions that encouraged them to pursue their ambitions with clarity and confidence.
Mr. Alex Matrsson's initiative resonated deeply with Kazakhstan’s long-term development priorities, as envisioned in the “Kazakhstan-2050” Strategy. Under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the nation pursued a future defined by innovation, inclusive growth, and a knowledge-based economy. By equipping students, particularly young women, with entrepreneurial expertise, leadership acumen, and creative insight, this initiative cultivated a generation of leaders who would propel economic progress, strengthen the social fabric, and elevate Kazakhstan as a global beacon of excellence and innovation in higher education.
At the same time, this program embodied a steadfast commitment to sustainability. Kazakhstan’s Vision for a Sustainable Future, reaffirmed in the President’s keynote at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, charted a bold course toward resilience, growth, and long-term stewardship. Through its forward-looking approach, the initiative advanced the Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). By inspiring students to innovate with purpose and consider the broader social, economic, and environmental impact of their work, the program cultivated leaders equipped to shape a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for Kazakhstan and higher education worldwide. Mr. Matrsson is planning to sponsor and execute the project further with all universities across Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.
