Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The state of emergency in Karakalpakstan will end at 05:00 on 21 July.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the early termination of the state of emergency in the territory of Karakalpakstan from 05:00 on July 21.
This decision was made “taking into account the appeal of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and also taking into account that public order has been restored in the region, the safety of citizens, the protection of their rights and freedoms have been ensured.”
The decree was sent for approval to the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced a state of emergency in Karakalpakstan until 2 August 2022.
The state of emergency was introduced for the period from 00:01 on 3 July 2022 to 00:00 on 2 August 2022.
On 1-2 July, an illegal demonstration was held in Nukus due to proposed amendments to the constitution of Uzbekistan.
