The State Commission for equipping the armed forces of Uzbekistan established

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on measures to improve public administration in the field of equipping the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the defense industry.

The President, by his decree, created the State Commission for Equipping the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan. The commission will be headed by the President of Uzbekistan.

The newly created commission will determine the prospects for providing special bodies with weapons, military and special equipment and other military and dual-use products.

The commission will also approve state defense orders, programs to provide the Armed Forces with military and dual-use products, as well as sources of their financing.

In accordance with the decree, the Defense Industry Agency is being created under the Ministry of Defense on the basis of the State Committee for the Defense Industry.

The agency will regulate the work of defense industry production enterprises, as well as create new production facilities. The agency is tasked with ensuring technological independence in the defense industry.

The head of Uzbekistan instructed the Agency to master the production of military and dual-use products, new materials, components and raw materials.

The decree establishes the state unitary enterprise Uztechtrade. The enterprise will import military and dual-use products.

By his decree, the President of Uzbekistan instructed to develop a draft law “On the state defense order” by 1 March 2024.
