Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 4 February 2020, the Senate School began its work in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, which was organized to systematically organize the training of Senate members.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in his speech at the first meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis expressed his opinion on further improving the activities of the upper house of parliament and the formation of a school of senators.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodik Safoev made a presentation on the essence and significance of reforms aimed at strengthening the role of parliament in deepening democratic reforms and modernizing the country, as well as the legal framework and priority areas of parliamentary activity.

Within the framework of the “School of Senators”, it is planned to conduct training sessions for senators on such issues as the importance of the Strategy of Action in the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 and the role of parliament in its implementation, strengthening the interaction of the Senate with local Kengashes, and providing practical and methodological promoting their activities, the main directions of foreign policy of Uzbekistan, the role of parliament and inter-parliamentary relations in foreign policy, the role of the Senate in the formation and adoption of the State of the budget, control its execution, the main criteria for the new tax concept, its importance in the development of the national economy, as well as participation of the Senate in the legislative drafting, developing and reviewing legislation.
