The Sekai Nippo makes report about a new phase of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - An article on the new stage of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan has been published in the Japanese newspaper The Sekai Nippo, Dunyo news agency reported.

It notes that the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan in December last year opened a new page in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

“Japan and Uzbekistan are time-tested partners. The dynamics of relations between the two countries indicates the willingness of the parties to further intensify and expand mutually beneficial and equal cooperation,” the article emphasizes.

At the same time, a constructive inter-parliamentary dialogue has been established: the Oliy Majlis - Parliament of Japan and the Japan League of Friendship with Uzbekistan are operating.

Another important mechanism of bilateral interaction is the format of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue, initiated by Tokyo in 2004 in order to deepen cooperation with the countries of the region.

According to the publication, the Uzbek-Japanese and Japanese-Uzbek economic cooperation committees play a large role in the development of trade and economic relations. Recall, the 15th joint meeting of these committees was held in July 2019 in Tokyo.

Along with this, the material separately notes the achievements of our country over the past few years. As an example, the fact that the rating of Uzbekistan in the annual report of the World Bank (WB) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) “Doing Business” has improved more than 2 times - the country moved from 166th to 76th place. Moreover, according to the IFC’s assessment, Uzbekistan is among the top ten reformer countries in terms of creating the most favorable conditions for doing business.

Finally, the increased investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan is emphasized, prompting large and leading foreign companies to enter the Uzbek market more actively. Formed investment environment and measures to stimulate investments, guarantees of protection of investors’ rights contributed to a significant increase in foreign investment.
