The Second Central Asian Energy Reform Conference takes place in Istanbul
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 July, the Second Central Asian Conference on Energy Reforms was held in Istanbul. The event was supported by the Asian Development Bank and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Turkey.
The conference was attended by heads of state-owned energy companies and ministries of energy of the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan. Reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan
At the opening ceremony, Mithat Cansiz, Director General of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, and Sherzod Khodjaev, Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, delivered an opening speech.
The issues of integration of the regional energy systems and cooperation in this direction were discussed.
ADB expressed its readiness to assist the countries of the region in close collaboration and cooperation.
Following the conference, a joint declaration was signed on regional cooperation in the field of energy reform and the creation of a single electricity market.
It should be noted that the First Central Asian Conference on Reforms in the Energy Sector was initiated by the Government of Uzbekistan, and was held with the technical assistance of the ADB in Tashkent in 2018.
