The Regulation on the procedure for conducting state control and inspection in the field of atomic energy use was approved

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to improve the regulatory framework in the field of atomic energy use, to ensure the systematic adoption of by-laws of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes” by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from 10 June 2020 No. 368, a Regulation on the procedure for conducting state control and inspection in the field of atomic energy use by the authorized bodies regulating the safety of atomic energy use by the state was approved, which envisages:

- the procedure for planning, organizing and conducting state control and inspection in the field of atomic energy use;

- the procedure for the coordination of inspections and the issuance of inspection results in case of violations of norms and rules in the field of atomic energy use;

- rights, tasks and responsibilities of officials of state regulatory bodies for the safety of atomic energy use at controlled facilities.

State control and inspection in the field of atomic energy use are aimed at preventing, detecting and eliminating violations of requirements established by legislation on the use of atomic energy by legal entities operating in the field of atomic energy use.

The document establishes the state control and inspection regime, which provides for the direct representation at nuclear facilities and storage facilities of authorized bodies regulating the safety of atomic energy use by the state, performing state control and inspection to ensure nuclear, radiation, industrial, fire, sanitary and epidemiological, environmental safety of nuclear installations and storage facilities.

According to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Use of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes”, the State Industrial Safety Committee, as well as the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Construction, are specially authorized bodies of state regulation of the safety of atomic energy use, the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources, the State Customs Committee, the Center of Hydrometeorological Service under the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense, and the National Guard are state bodies that have separate powers for state regulation of the safety of atomic energy use.
