The prospects of increasing the export of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to Latvia were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Uzbek Embassy in Latvia held talks with the owner of the ELBI company S.Kulikov, Dunyo reported.

The company is one of the largest Latvian importers of fruits and vegetables to the European market. Carries out forwarding to shops, supermarkets of Riga and other areas of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

It offers 150 types of fruits and vegetables, delivers from European producers, as well as from Argentina, South Africa, Chile, Egypt and other countries using advanced growing technologies.

It has storage facilities with a total area of 4,500 square meters, equipped with modern ventilation and cooling chambers and loading and unloading equipment.

As part of the visit, the company’s storehouse held an exchange of views on the prospects for expanding cooperation in increasing the export of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to Latvia and other EU countries. The introduction of quality standards of the European Union in Uzbekistan to achieve these goals, as well as issues of cargo transportation, were also affected.

During the negotiations, detailed information was provided on the progressive measures taken in Uzbekistan to promote exports, the state paid constant attention to supporting and stimulating the export activities of business entities.

The creation of a new Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the development of financial support mechanisms for exporting enterprises to increase exports were noted.

Kulikov noted the great export potential of fruits and vegetables in Uzbekistan, expressing interest in expanding ties with Uzbek suppliers.

An agreement was reached to continue cooperation on practical actions to increase the volume of Uzbek exports to Latvia.
