The President signs the Law on volunteering

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On volunteering”.

In accordance with the Law, volunteering is a voluntary socially-oriented, free-will, socially useful activity carried out free of charge in the interests of individuals and (or) legal entities.

Volunteer activities may take the form of:

- individual volunteer activities;

- volunteering as part of a group of volunteers;

- volunteering through a volunteer organization.

Assistance in support of low-income citizens, the unemployed, large families and other similar individuals is one of the areas of volunteering.

Volunteer activities can be carried out by individuals over 18 years of age.

Volunteering can be carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded in writing between the volunteer and the organizer of volunteer activities.

The organizer of a volunteer activity is required to conclude a volunteer agreement with the volunteer if he is engaged in volunteer activity for more than 20 hours per month.

The organizer of the volunteer activity gives the volunteer special clothing and reimburses his expenses for travel from the actual place of residence to the place of the volunteer action and back, accommodation, meals, purchase of necessary personal protective equipment, tools and other expenses

This Law shall enter into force on the day of its official publication.
