The President of Uzbekistan Concludes His Official Visit to Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The events of the intensive program of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Japan have concluded.

During his stay in Tokyo, the Head of State held meetings and talks with Emperor of Japan Naruhito, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the speakers of both chambers of Parliament, representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship League with Uzbekistan, members of the government, the Mayor of Nara, as well as rectors of leading Japanese higher education institutions.

The discussions focused on issues related to the further expansion of practical engagement and the development of multifaceted cooperation in the political, trade and economic, investment, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

As part of the business agenda of the visit, the Uzbek–Japanese Business Forum was held, along with bilateral meetings with the heads of Japan’s largest companies and financial institutions.

The key outcome of the visit was the signing by the leaders of the two countries of a Joint Statement on an Expanded Strategic Partnership for Future Generations, elevating Uzbek–Japanese relations to a qualitatively new level.

Following the talks, an extensive package of bilateral agreements and arrangements was formed in the fields of education, healthcare, ecology, water resources, transport, urban development, tourism, agriculture, and disaster risk reduction.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan also took part in and addressed the first summit of the Central Asia–Japan Dialogue, during which he put forward a number of important initiatives aimed at further strengthening cooperation within this format. The summit concluded with the adoption of the Tokyo Declaration.

As part of the cultural program of the visit, Days of Uzbek Culture were held in Tokyo, featuring a concert by master performers, the photo exhibition “New Uzbekistan,” and an exhibition of traditional applied arts.

Upon completion of the events in Japan, the President of Uzbekistan departed on a working visit to the Russian Federation to participate in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and an informal summit of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States, to be held in St. Petersburg.

At Haneda International Airport, the distinguished guest was seen off by Member of the Japanese Parliament Muneo Suzuki, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Otsuru Tetsuya, and other officials.
