The OIC supports the signing of the border junction agreement between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its support for the signing of the Treaty on the Border Junction of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the "Khujand Declaration" by the presidents of the three countries.
In an official statement, the OIC General Secretariat welcomed the signing of the historic agreement by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov. The agreement represents a significant step toward the final demarcation of borders between the three nations. The document was signed during a summit of the three leaders held on March 31, 2025, in the city of Khujand, Tajikistan.
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha congratulated the people and leaders of the three countries on this remarkable achievement, which is the outcome of years of negotiations aimed at resolving border disputes that had remained unsettled for more than three decades. He emphasized that the agreement would give new impetus to the development of strategic relations between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The OIC consistently supports the strengthening of fraternal ties, mutual understanding, and cooperation among its member states. In this regard, the Secretary-General expressed confidence that the agreement would contribute to enhanced security, stability, regional cooperation, and deeper economic integration in Central Asia.
