The NCHR discussed cooperation with the United Kingdom in the field of human rights

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 15 October 2019, a meeting with Peter Gross, Chief Justice for International Relations of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, was held at the National Center for Human Rights (UCHR), the press service of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for human rights said.

The meeting was also attended by British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Timothy Torlot.

During the conversation, the first deputy director of the NCHR Mirzatilla Tillabaev acquainted the guests with the main functions and activities of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, about the ongoing systemic reforms in the legislative and judicial sphere, the priority directions of Uzbekistan’s policy in ensuring and observing human rights.

During the meeting, Peter Gross highlighted the measures taken in Uzbekistan in recent years to carry out democratic reforms, build a civil society and ensure human rights and freedoms.

He also emphasized that in his work he specializes in criminal law, commercial law and judicial control, and is ready to cooperate in these areas.

The meeting also discussed the impact of ongoing reforms in the country on human rights, the implementation of measures to combat human trafficking and others.

The parties expressed their readiness to develop bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights protection.
