The Ministry of Sports of Uzbekistan holds meeting with U.S. Ambassador to discuss international sports cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan today hosted a meeting with Jonathan Henick, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States to Uzbekistan.

The talks were attended by senior officials of the Ministry, representatives of the National Olympic Committee, and the Uzbekistan Football Association. The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of sports.

Particular attention was given to preparations for the participation of the Uzbek delegation in major international competitions to be held in the United States: the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.

The meeting addressed organizational matters related to athletes’ participation, the coordination of required procedures, and opportunities for further expanding sports cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Jonathan Henick praised the achievements of Uzbek sports and highlighted the friendly relations between the leaders of both nations.

He expressed the embassy’s readiness to provide practical support in processing necessary documents and to assist in the successful preparation of Uzbek athletes for international competitions.
