The Law “On the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was approved

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Members of the upper house of parliament discussed the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

The significance of the Law is determined by the fact that it serves to regulate relations in the field of the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The adoption of this Law is associated with a number of objective reasons. Thus, the current Law "On the Procedure for Resolving Issues of the Administrative-Territorial Structure in the Republic of Uzbekistan", adopted in 1996, cannot provide a systematic solution to the issues of the administrative-territorial structure in the country. In addition, there is no procedure for step-by-step decision-making on relevant issues.

Moreover, the procedures for the state examination of proposals on the issues of the administrative-territorial structure in the Republic of Uzbekistan have not been developed or regulated. This, in turn, creates the basis for making decisions on these issues without deep analysis. The powers and tasks of public authorities and administration are not specifically defined, and there are no rules of direct action.

When the Law was adopted, it consisted of 31 articles, of which 15 have lost their force for various reasons.

During the meeting, the senators noted that the new Law differs from the Law "On the procedure for resolving issues of the administrative-territorial structure in the Republic of Uzbekistan" by the presence of a number of basic provisions.

Thus, the powers and tasks of state bodies are clearly defined when making decisions on issues of territorial structure.

Along with this, on the basis of legal norms, mechanisms are determined for conducting state examination of proposals on the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the creation and organization of the activities of special commissions on these issues.

The law also introduces mechanisms for compliance with decisions taken on the issues of the administrative-territorial structure.

This Law has been approved by the Senators.
