Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A ceremony was signed in Tashkent to sign grant contracts for small-scale social projects totaling about US$700,000, implemented in Uzbekistan as part of the Japanese Government’s no-string aid, Dunyo news agency reported.
Yoshinori Fujiyama, Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan, who spoke at the event, noted that the government of the Land of the Rising Sun attaches great importance to strategic partnership with Uzbekistan.
“Since 1995, Japan has been providing assistance for the economic and social development of Uzbekistan, as well as improving the well-being of people,” the diplomat said. “This collaboration symbolizes friendship on the part of the Japanese people, striving to strengthen friendly relations.”
It was emphasized that Japan will continue to intensively assist Uzbekistan.
Grant assistance will be provided in three areas: medicine, education and culture.
In particular, a number of medical institutions will receive new equipment. Among them are the Regional Perinatal Center and the Republican Endocrinological Dispensary of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Khorezm and Jizzakh branches of the Republican Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Oncology and Radiology, as well as the Second Regional Perinatal Center of Surkhandarya Region.
In implementing the direction of education, pre-school institutions No. 12 and No. 17 of the city of Termez, as well as secondary school No. 4 of the Pakhtakor district of the Jizzakh region will be provided with educational equipment.
And finally, through the culture line, the Uzbek State University of World Languages will receive additional equipment for learning the Japanese language.
