The expansion of UzLiDeP’s international relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has made significant progress in the implementation of balanced and constructive foreign policy, development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with foreign countries. A significant stimulus has been given to further development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the world’s leading powers, and a partnership with the SCO and other authoritative international organizations has reached a qualitatively new stage.

Meanwhile, UzLiDeP as the leading political party should strengthen its activities in the direction of foreign policy. It concerns also issues of export, attraction of foreign investments, advanced technologies and knowledge for modernization of industry and infrastructure, and increase of a stream of tourists to Uzbekistan. The party should pay special attention to the work on informing foreign partners about Uzbekistan.

These tasks were discussed by delegates from UzLiDeP within the framework of the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Political Parties Forum which was held on May 26, 2018 in Shenzhen, China. In particular, the Chairman of UzLiDeP Bakhtiyar Yakubov familiarized the forum participants with the opportunities and favorable conditions of Uzbekistan for the development of small business and private entrepreneurship, the farmer’s movement, as well as the role and place of UzLiDeP in these processes. About the effectiveness of this format of working with foreign colleagues is indicated by the fact that about 200 representatives of more than 20 political parties from about 20 SCO member states, as well as observer countries and dialogue partners took part in the forum.

B. Yakubov also outlined the party’s position on the SCO, which is considered as a mechanism of multilateral cooperation on strengthening stability and security, development of economic interaction in Central Asia, a platform for open and constructive dialogue, as well as an instrument for developing partnerships in various directions. UzLiDeP believes that the expansion of inter-party cooperation between the political parties of the SCO countries will be another practical step towards increasing multifaceted cooperation in implementing the organization’s main goals and objectives.

UzLiDeP believes that political parties are in a position to strengthen the prospects of the SCO and expand its potential, which will positively affect the growth of the role and authority of the organization in the world community.

During the forum the delegation from UzLiDeP exchanged views on a wide range of issues of world and regional economic development, issues of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation within the SCO, as well as establishment of inter-party contacts.

In general, UzLiDeP believes that the forum demonstrated that inter-party dialogue is becoming one of the mechanisms for cooperation in the Shanghai spirit of "mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, mutual consultations, respect for cultural diversity, and pursuit of common development".
