Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of international cooperation in the fight against coronavirus infection, as well as to help prevent the spread and eradication of Covid-19 in Uzbekistan, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Seoul has attracted a humanitarian aid party from the Republic of Korea, Dunyo reported.
Humanitarian cargo with a total weight of about 34 tons was formed with the support of such South Korean companies as Evergreen Motors, Hanshin E&C, Shindong Resources, BOMI E&C, GM Korea, Association of automotive components suppliers for GM, UNICO Logistics, Chung Hospital, Myung Sung Placon, Suwan TPL, Union Korea Pharm, Century, Infinity Co., Ltd.,LH, Hyundai Engineeringand Shinhan University, proceeding from the needs of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.
In addition, with the funds in the amount of US$250,000 allocated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, 20 thousand sets of PCR diagnostic test systems from PCL Inc. were purchased.
Today, part of the above humanitarian aid, which includes high-tech medical equipment, medical beds with an automatic mechanism and PCR diagnostic test systems with a total weight of 6.2 tons worth about 900 thousand dollars, was sent to Tashkent on a charter flight of Uzbekistan Airways.
The remaining part of humanitarian cargo with a total weight of over 27.6 tons will be delivered to our country as the next cargo charter flight is organized.
Professor Koryo Yoon Sung Joo University professor also arrives in Tashkent on this flight to work as an international expert on Covid-19.
“It is a great honor for me to be invited to Uzbekistan to exchange experiences and assist in the fight against the spread of a new type of coronavirus,” says Professor Yoon Sung Joo. - I am well aware that the country's leadership is taking comprehensive practical measures to eradicate the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic as soon as possible. In close cooperation with South Korea, fruitful work is being carried out in this direction, which gives tremendous results. For my part, I am also ready to make efforts to carry out preventive measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.
Professor of the University of Koryo Choi Jae Uk, who was in our country from 29 March to 26 April as a consultant on the prevention of a new type of coronavirus, also shared his assessments of the purposeful work carried out in this direction in Uzbekistan.
“First of all, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the created conditions for effective work during my stay in the country,” he said. “I have witnessed large-scale and active measures being implemented by the leadership of Uzbekistan throughout the country aimed at the speedy prevention of the spread of a new coronavirus. Thanks to this, it was possible to contain the number of cases, which currently is below 2 thousand people, which is a very low indicator compared to many other countries. I am very glad that I had the honor of directly participating in the work to combat the pandemic in the republic. Taking this opportunity, I would like to wish the people of Uzbekistan health and speedy overcoming the difficulties associated with Covid-19.
The humanitarian aid will arrive in Tashkent on the evening of 26 April.
