Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the first half of 2020, the criminal courts examined 13,990 cases in relation to 17,251 persons, which is 2% of cases and 8% of persons less than in the same period of 2019. This was reported by the press service of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the same time, 363 persons were acquitted and rehabilitated, the number of convicts reached 12,748 persons, of which 3,896 persons were sentenced to imprisonment, and 8,852 persons were sentenced to other types of punishment, 545 persons were conditionally convicted. Among the convicts there are 11,401 men, 1,347 women, 4,954 young people, 257 minors and 396 persons over 60 years of age.
Also, 1,455 persons were released from custody from the courtroom in connection with the imposition of punishments not related to imprisonment, 10,331 persons were released from serving their sentences on parole, 3,234 persons were sentenced to a milder one, from prosecution 2 505 persons were excluded or re-qualified articles unreasonably imputed by the preliminary investigation bodies.
On the basis of letters of guarantee 115 young people, 23 women and 386 persons were sentenced not to imprisonment.
Compared to the same period of last year, the indicators of convictions for such types of crimes have decreased, which, in particular, include fraud, premeditated murder, robbery, robbery, embezzlement by embezzlement or embezzlement, theft, intentional grievous and moderate bodily injury, human trafficking, abuse of power or official authority, official forgery.
During the reporting period, as a result of the effective application of the institution of reconciliation, 3,535 persons were released from criminal liability.
Penalties not related to imprisonment were imposed on 1,319 persons who compensated material damage in the amount of over 118.5 billion soums.
3 646 criminal cases, that is, almost 26.1% of all cases were considered during field trials.
In addition, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan considered 661 cases against 808 persons in a supervisory manner. The decisions of the lower courts were canceled in respect of 519 persons and the court decisions in respect of 197 persons were changed.
