Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Given the decline in the population’s ability to pay in the context of a pandemic, families whose children study on a paid-contact basis were provided with a number of benefits.
Taking into account the appeals received during the pandemic about the cost of the contract, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education has developed proposals together with the Ministry of Finance.
According to this:
in the new 2020/2021 academic year for all full-time students, the cost of the current basic contract is reduced by 10%;
higher educational institutions provide targeted financial assistance to orphans, full-time orphans, students with disabilities, as well as students from families in need of social protection who are children of families included in the "Iron Notebook" list to pay for the contract. At the same time, universities will be able to provide financial assistance in the amount of up to 4 million soums from available funds, depending on the social status of students;
more than 4,000 students who have served in the Armed Forces of the republic and are studying at universities on a paid contract basis will receive financial assistance in the amount of 35% of the contract amount. The size of this financial aid will be from 2.4 million to 3.4 million soums per student per year.
It was also noted that taxable wages and other incomes aimed at paying for higher education (for their education, their children under the age of 26 or the education of their husband (wife) are exempt from income tax. At the same time, families who pay a contract for per student, from 770,000 soums to 1 million 177 thousand soums per year will be returned in the form of income tax benefits.
