The Chinese edition of “The New Silk Road Review” dedicated to the economic breakthroughs of Uzbekistan published
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new issue of the Chinese magazine “The New Silk Road Review” published an article on the economic achievements of our country.
In particular, it says that in recent years more and more free economic zones (FEZ) are being created in Uzbekistan, the number of which has now reached 21. In addition, there are 10 free industrial zones, 8 for the development of pharmaceuticals, tourism, fisheries and agribusiness.
Turning to the statistics, the publication informs that in free economic zones 629 projects were approved for the amount of US$3.66 billion, US$1,54 billion of which are foreign direct investment. Of the total number of projects 158 were implemented, 431 are at the implementation stage, another 40 are promising. It is emphasized that in the framework of 158 projects 9,746 new jobs were created.
It was reported that the projects operate in various fields, taking into account the demand for both the domestic and foreign markets. Among them are light, chemical, food industry, production of electrical goods, modern building materials, furniture and other products. By the way, enterprises exported products worth US$194 million.
Referring to the data of the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chinese edition states that in January-November 2018, our country’s foreign trade turnover increased by 17.6% compared to the same period last year and amounted to US$28.66 billion.
The largest share in the export of goods and services of the Republic of Uzbekistan is occupied by China and Russia - 37.5%.
