The Central Bank of Uzbekistan: More than Half of Depositors Concentrated in NBU and People’s Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank has published an analysis of the deposit market as of August 2025, highlighting a high concentration of clients in the country’s major commercial banks.

More than half of all depositors are concentrated in National Bank of Uzbekistan (over 1.58 million clients) and the People’s Bank (approximately 1.23 million), while a significant share is held by private banks: “Kapitalbank” (593,000), “Ipak Yuli Bank” (487,000), and InFinBank (438,000).

An analysis of deposit account structures by age shows that the highest activity is among youth and middle-aged clients. The largest number of accounts is held by citizens aged 16–30 — 13.3 million, with a comparable level among depositors aged 31–40 — 12.84 million.

In older age groups, the number of accounts declines noticeably: 7.42 million accounts are held by depositors aged 41–50, and 5.32 million by those aged 51–60. However, individuals over 60 still maintain a significant volume of deposits, with 6.32 million accounts.

The gender distribution of depositors is nearly balanced: men hold approximately 22.32 million accounts, and women 22.2 million.

At the same time, an analysis of deposited amounts reveals a disparity: men’s accounts hold about 79.17 trillion soums, while women’s accounts total 60.26 trillion soums.
