Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 24-29 January, Executive Director of the Brussels Press Club Laurent Brihay was in Uzbekistan.
The visit of Laurent Brihay to Uzbekistan is not accidental. In November 2019, during the visit of the delegation of the Uztekstilprom Association in Brussels, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Belgium organized a round table, with the participation of representatives of Belgian textile companies and the media, where issues of cooperation with the Press Club were discussed.
The Brussels Press Club was established in 2010 at the initiative of international journalists based in Brussels. He is the chairman of the International Association of Press Clubs. It unites more than 1 thousand journalists. Serves as a venue for briefings, conferences and discussions. The contact base of the organization consists of more than 2 thousand representatives of official, diplomatic and expert-analytical circles of the EU.
The main topic of discussion of the meeting of the Association’s leadership with L. Brihay was the issue of developing a positive image of the textile sector of Uzbekistan as part of a joint PR strategy. In particular, L. Brihay proposed the implementation of a media project - a competition among European journalists - members of the international network of Press Clubs for the "Best Article about Uzbekistan", which will undoubtedly stimulate the increased interest of international media in Uzbekistan.
Brikhai noted that the Message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev Oliy Majlis aroused the keen interest of the entire world community, and the tasks outlined in the Message will ensure the success of the media project, as there is already a discussion in the international expert community.
The project envisages the provision of reliable information to the world community about New Uzbekistan, about reforms in the textile and sewing and knitting industry of Uzbekistan, about its investment and tourism potential, etc.
Preliminary dates for the competition will be determined in the near future - presumably February - April 2020. The panel of judges will include eminent journalists, experts, members of the press club, who will determine the winner of the competition.
During the visit, L. Brikhai also met with Sh. Kudratkhodjaev - the head of the International Press Club, A. Mukhamatkulov - the head of the PR center of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Deputy Chairman of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan S. Sanginov.
The visit of L. Brihai to Uzbekistan ended with an introduction to the historical heritage of the city of Samarkand.
