Teacher Detained in Namangan Over Abuse Case
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A criminal case has been opened in Namangan region against a school teacher suspected of sexually abusing a sixth-grade student at School No. 8 in the Yangikurgan district. Reports of the incident circulated on social media on 30 March.
According to the regional internal affairs authorities, a local resident reported the alleged crime on 28 March involving his daughter, born in 2013.
Investigators from the Yangikurgan District Department of Internal Affairs have opened a case against the 1973-born suspect under Part 4 of Article 119 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which pertains to violent sexual acts in an unnatural form.
The suspect has been detained in accordance with procedural law and placed in pre-trial custody. Preliminary investigative actions are ongoing.
The Children’s Ombudsman has taken the case under special supervision, monitoring the investigation and ensuring the protection of the victim’s procedural rights.
