Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Today, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov attended the opening ceremony of a new production line of UzAvto Trailer LLC for the assembly of KAMAZ vehicles in Samarkand, the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The honorary guests at the opening ceremony of the new enterprise were also khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, Director General of KAMAZ PJSC Sergey Kogogin, Chairman of Uzavtosanoat JSC (Uzavtoprom) Shavkat Umurzakov and others.

Before the ceremony, the guests got acquainted with the capabilities of the auto enterprise, visited the KAMAZ automobile assembly shop, the body of mounted and trailed equipment, and also examined the lines of assembly parts sets (SKD), the gas cylinder equipment assembly section (HBO). At the end, a model range of trucks and municipal special equipment was presented, which is planned to be produced at a car enterprise.

“Today we are present at the opening ceremony of the new KAMAZ car assembly line in the city of Samarkand. First of all, I want to thank the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan for supporting the development of Tatarstan-Uzbekistan cooperation, as well as everyone who took part in the implementation of this project. Uzbekistan is one of the important foreign partners of Tatarstan and all of Russia. Last year, our trade turnover grew by 57% and amounted to 146 million US dollars,” said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, one of the successful examples of joint work is the cooperation of Uzbekistan with KAMAZ. Last year, the production of trucks on the basis of UzAvto Trailer LLC was launched in Samarkand.

“The assembled cars are sold on the domestic market of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the possibility of entering third countries is being worked out,” said Rustam Minnikhanov. He also emphasized the historical significance of today's event and wished the auto enterprise team successful work.

Currently, the KAMAZ fleet of vehicles in Uzbekistan totals about 14 thousand units. In 2017, Uzavtosanoat JSC (Uzavtoprom) and KAMAZ PJSC entered into a cooperation agreement providing for the organization of production of trucks under the KAMAZ brand.

In 2018, the production of trucks based on the company UzAvto Trailer LLC was launched in the Samarkand region. As part of the agreements, a separate building was built with a total area of 7,400 square meters (including storage facilities) and a new production line for the assembly of cars "KAMAZ" was organized with a design capacity of up to 3,000 units per year in two shifts. In this building, a section for assembling and installing gas equipment on the KAMAZ chassis was also organized.

With the opening of a new line, new jobs are created. Qualified personnel have already been hired to begin production preparation. To train personnel and carry out pilot assembly, field technologists from the KAMAZ Technological Center work.
