Tashkent Welcomes the Champions of the 5th Asian Youth Para Games

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ceremonial reception was held in the capital of Uzbekistan to welcome the winners of the 5th Asian Youth Para Games, which took place in Dubai. Members of the national sports delegation were warmly greeted at Tashkent–Khumo International Airport by representatives of the sports community, veteran athletes, journalists, and numerous fans.

The Games were held from 7 to 14 December and brought together around 1,500 athletes from 35 Asian countries, who competed for medals in 11 sports disciplines. The Uzbekistan national team competed in six events, including para athletics, para swimming, para taekwondo, boccia, para armwrestling, and para powerlifting.

Following the Games, Uzbek para-athletes delivered a historic performance, winning a total of 197 medals — 99 gold, 57 silver, and 41 bronze — and confidently securing first place in the overall medal standings. This achievement served as a clear demonstration of the rapid development of para sports in the country and the effectiveness of the systematic training of young athletes.

For comparison, at the 4th Asian Youth Para Games held in Bahrain in 2021, the Uzbekistan team won only 16 medals and finished sixth overall. The breakthrough performance in Dubai has become one of the most significant achievements in Uzbek sports in recent years and has generated a strong public response.
