Tashkent to Host Summit of Central Asian Heads of State

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15–16 November, Tashkent will host the seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The summit will be attended by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev; the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov; the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon; the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow; as well as the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Kaha Imnadze.

The agenda of the meeting includes issues related to further strengthening regional cooperation and promoting joint projects and initiatives in key sectors. The leaders of the countries will exchange views on pressing aspects of regional and international policy.

At the conclusion of the summit, a significant package of multilateral documents is expected to be adopted.

The initiative to establish the format of regular consultative meetings was proposed by the President of Uzbekistan at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in September 2017. During the current chairmanship of Uzbekistan, more than 20 major events have been held, covering a wide range of areas of interstate cooperation.
