Tashkent to host seminar dedicated to 20th anniversary of ICPD

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Institute of Economy of Uzbekistan Science Academy of Uzbekistan, Republican scientific-practical center “Oila” and at the support of UNFPA will hold a seminar to discuss achievements in Millennium Development Goals and action programme of International conference on population and development (ICPD) in Uzbekistan.

During the seminar, the participants will consider issues related to population, healthcare, reproductive and mother health, expansion of women rights, protection of environment, fight against TB, etc.

They will also consider achievements of Uzbekistan in implementation of action programme of ICPD in 1994 and determine ways of deepening progress in execution of recommendations of the conference.

The ICPD was held in 1994 and it became milestone in history of population and development. The conference considered issues related to population and people. Some 179 countries adopted 20 year action programme, which was directed at decreasing child and mother mortality, improving education and healthcare services, virus diseases, etc.
