Tashkent Region Cadastral Chamber Employee Detained for Extorting US$5,000

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region, an employee of the regional branch of the State Cadastral Chamber was detained for allegedly extorting US$5,000 in exchange for processing cadastral documents for an 8-sotka (800 m²) residential plot through acquaintances in high-ranking positions.

A joint operation conducted by the Tashkent Regional Office of the State Security Service, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, and local law enforcement agencies led to the suspect being apprehended with physical evidence at the moment of receiving the demanded sum.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Articles 168, Part 2, subparagraphs “a” and “b,” as well as Articles 28 and 211, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Investigative actions are ongoing.
