Tashkent Region and Hollywood Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Tashkent Region, led by Hokim Zoir Mirzaev, is on an official working visit to the United States. As part of the program, a business forum was held with representatives from the region and the city of Hollywood, Florida.

The event was attended by Hokim Zoir Mirzaev, Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy, as well as officials, members of the Chamber of Commerce, business leaders, and representatives of relevant agencies.

Mayor Josh Levy warmly welcomed the guests, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnership ties. He highlighted the city’s economic and tourism potential, its experience in developing the hospitality sector, services, transport, logistics, small business, and Florida’s achievements in the agro-industrial sector. In 2024, Florida’s GDP exceeded $1.7 trillion, ranking the state 4th among U.S. states.

Hokim Zoir Mirzaev expressed gratitude for the reception and noted the active development of bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and the U.S., emphasizing the role of regional cooperation.

During the forum, the economic potential of Tashkent Region was presented, covering industry, agriculture, logistics, tourism, investment projects, and industrial zones. Participants also viewed a regional product exhibition and a video presentation.

To further strengthen ties, plans were proposed for a “Hollywood Week” in Tashkent Region and “Tashkent Region Days” in Hollywood.

Following the forum, a memorandum of understanding was signed to promote trade and economic relations between the two regions and expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.

After the business forum, Hokim Zoir Mirzaev held an informal roundtable meeting with American entrepreneurs and company executives. The discussions were noted for their openness and sincerity.

Topics included the economic potential of Tashkent Region, its favorable investment climate, and promising projects in agriculture, education, transport, logistics, tourism, and culture. Particular attention was given to the region’s strategic geographic location, scenic environment, opportunities for agrotourism, industrial zones, and modern infrastructure that create unique business conditions.

In both B2B and B2G formats, participants highlighted a wide range of investment and cooperation opportunities. Tashkent Region, with a population of about 3.8 million, boasts high economic and transport potential, over ten free economic zones, and industrial parks, making it attractive to foreign investors.

American business representatives highly appreciated the proposed incentives and offered suggestions for expanding cooperation. Hokim Zoir Mirzaev, in turn, called for joint implementation of new investment projects.

Concrete results were already achieved during the delegation’s visit: NAVRUZ International Corp signed a contract to supply energy drinks and fruit juices to the Mango Tree Supermarkets chain and the U.S. National Supermarket Association worth $100 million.

The delegation’s visit to the United States continues, with further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation expected.
