Tashkent police to investigate actions of its staff, pursuing crashed Lacetti

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent city police will conduct an official inspection against traffic police officers chasing the Lacetti car, which crashed at high speed on 28 October 2018.

According to Tashkent police, on 28 October, at about 2:00, the driver of a Lacetti car, driving at high speed and trying to escape from traffic police officers, at a junction of Almazar and Islam Karimov streets drove at a high speed to a traffic light signal and crashed into a HOWO mixer truck.

As a result of an accident, the driver Lacetti 29-year-old Jurabek A. with bodily injuries was taken to hospital. Car passenger, 26-year-old Shahboz H., died of his injuries on the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of an accident under paragraph 2 of Article 266 (“Violation of the rules of traffic safety or operation of vehicles”) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the investigation, the reasons for the accident, the motives that prompted the driver to exceed the speed will be established.

In respect of the employees, pursuing the car of the violator, an official check was appointed.

Tashkent police notes that A. Jurabek drove a car without a driver’s license. The court stripped his license for refusing to undergo check for use of alcohol or drugs for 1.5 years in April 2018.
