Tashkent Opens OSTEN Smart Water Meter Manufacturing Plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new manufacturing plant producing OSTEN-branded “smart” water meters was officially opened in Tashkent. The facility was established jointly by Technopark LLC and Diehl Metering.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent city administration, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Uzbekistan, SUEZ International SAS, Tashkentvodokanal JSC, the O‘zeltexsanoat Association, and other project partners.
The new plant is designed to produce 350,000 advanced smart water meters annually, with plans for full local production in the future.
OSTEN water meters fully comply with international standards and integrate with Diehl Metering’s IZAR NET and IZAR Mobile information systems. These systems enable real-time water consumption monitoring, leak detection, and transparent billing.
Under Presidential Decree No. 428 dated 18 November 2022, smart water meters from this project will be installed in Tashkent as part of the “Transformation of the City’s Drinking Water Supply and Sewerage System” initiative. Key objectives include improved consumer convenience, precise water metering, transparent billing, digitalization of the sector, and efficient use of water resources.
By 2028, 670,000 smart water meters are planned to be installed across Tashkent. Officials noted that the plant’s launch marks a significant step toward modernizing water infrastructure, expanding digital solutions, enhancing consumer comfort, and promoting environmental sustainability and resource efficiency in the country.
