Tashkent Leads in Loans and Deposits — Central Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has published data on loans and deposits in the country’s banking system by region as of 1 September 2025. The information highlights a significant concentration of financial resources in the capital and major regional centers, as well as the growing role of individuals in the deposit base.

According to the regulator, the total volume of loans in the country reached 581.1 trillion soums, of which 205.5 trillion soums were issued to individuals and 375.6 trillion soums to legal entities.

Total deposits amounted to 363.7 trillion soums, with 145.3 trillion soums held by individuals and 218.4 trillion soums by legal entities.

The largest share of the loan portfolio is concentrated in the capital: the city of Tashkent accounts for 287.5 trillion soums (approximately 49% of total loans), including 66.9 trillion soums to individuals and 220.6 trillion soums to legal entities.

Similarly, deposits in Tashkent total 277.9 trillion soums (around 76% of all deposits), comprising 84.9 trillion soums from individuals and 193.0 trillion soums from legal entities.

Among the regions, the highest volumes of lending were recorded in Fergana Region — 29.26 trillion soums, Samarkand Region — 28.03 trillion soums, and Kashkadarya Region — 24.77 trillion soums.

In terms of deposits, the leading regions are Samarkand Region — 10.35 trillion soums, Khorezm Region — 9.63 trillion soums, and Bukhara Region — 9.52 trillion soums.

The regulator notes that the ratio of loans to individuals versus legal entities varies by region. In Navoi Region, individuals received 11.3 trillion soums out of 18.1 trillion soums in total loans, accounting for over 62% of the regional portfolio.

At the same time, in Tashkent Region, loans to legal entities total 15.94 trillion soums out of 27.79 trillion soums (about 57%), and in Fergana Region — 15.53 trillion soums out of 29.26 trillion soums (around 53%), reflecting high business activity in these regions.
