Tashkent hosts roundtable on teaching English in beginning schools
The British Council in Uzbekistan organized the roundtable in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan.
The event was aimed at discussing issues related with introduction of English language in beginning schools and peculiarities of teaching and studying of English language.
One of leading British specialists in teaching English language and knowledge assessment Wendy Arnold was invited to provide consultations to Uzbek experts, who work on development of Kid’s English book.
Last year, some 537,000 children went to the first classes. This year, the schools accepted 587,000 children. So some 1.124 million students of the first and second classes study foreign language and 94% of them are studying English.
At the roundtable, the participants considered efficient methods of teaching and studying foreign languages at the beginning schools, improving skills of teachers, etc. They also develop materials and manuals of English language.
