Tashkent hosts roundtable on deputy control
Deputy control is organizational-legal activity of local Council of People’s Deputies, their commissions, MPs Groups, which is directed at controlling implementation of legislation in places by the state bodies, legal entities and officials.
It was noted that number of deputy requests is increasing in Uzbekistan in recent years. The Tashkent regional Council of People’s Deputies conducted 25 deputies requests in 2010, 31 – in 2011, 35 in 2012 and 54 – in 2013 and 29 – in first half of 2014.
The participants underlined that Uzbekistan is improving legislative bases for deputy control. Recently, the country amended Constitution, which envisages that Councils of People’s Deputies will consider reports of heads of local administration at regular bases.
The attendees underlined that it is important to develop cooperation among representative bodies in places and civil society institutes, as well as mass media to solve existing regional problems.
It was underlined that local Councils of People’s Deputies can abolish decisions of the governors, which do not comply with the legislation of Uzbekistan, demand to eliminate violations by the state bodies or other organizations, punish officials for non-implementation of the decisions of the Councils.
The roundtable adopted recommendations on wide use of deputy control in Uzbekistan.
