Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilkhom Nematov, took part in the next meeting of deputy foreign ministers of Central Asian countries held in Tashkent.

Such meetings have been held annually since 2008 at the initiative of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and for the first time in Tashkent.

The UNRCCA delegation was led by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, the head of the Center, Natalia German. The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliev, deputy heads of foreign affairs agencies of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev, Tajikistan - Muzaffar Huseynzoda, Turkmenistan - Vepa Hadzhiev and Afghanistan - Nahid Esar.

During the sessional meetings, the parties considered topical issues of regional policy and security, exchanged views on events and trends affecting the countries of Central Asia, the state and prospects of cooperation with Afghanistan, discussed the results of the UNRCCA activity in the current year and outlined plans for cooperation for 2020.
