Tashkent Hosts First Uzbek-Syrian Business Forum with 200 Entrepreneurs Participating
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 February, Tashkent hosted the first Uzbek-Syrian Business Forum, bringing together around 200 entrepreneurs from the industrial, agricultural, pharmaceutical, textile, construction, electrical, logistics, and tourism sectors.
The event took place within the framework of the visit of a high-level delegation from the Syrian Arab Republic, led by the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Syria, Ala Omar al-Ali, and was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
The Syrian delegation included the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, heads of the chambers of commerce from Damascus, Homs, Daraa, Tartus, Latakia, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, and Idlib, as well as representatives of industry associations and businesses. Their participation focused on practical aspects of cooperation and the development of concrete solutions.
During the forum, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, emphasized the need to transform historically established ties into tangible trade and investment projects.
Priority areas included agro-food products and processing, construction materials production, pharmaceuticals, the textile industry, and the development of industrial cooperation.
Discussions also addressed joint product packaging, the establishment of sustainable logistics chains, regular B2B meetings, and the potential opening of a “Uzbekistan Trade House” in Syria.
Following the forum, the parties agreed to expand mutual supplies and launch joint initiatives, signaling a shift from intentions to practical steps and long-term investment projects in bilateral relations.
