Tashkent Hosts First International SHARE Architects Forum in Central Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first International Forum on Architecture and Urban Development, SHARE Uzbekistan 2025, took place in the Uzbek capital on 22–23 September, bringing together over 30 leading architects from 15 countries.
Participants included representatives of world-renowned firms such as Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG, Denmark), Zaha Hadid Architects (UK), XTU Architects (France), MAD Architects (China), among others.
A New Milestone for Regional Architecture
The forum was organized by the international platform SHARE Architects with the support of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan. Official partner Manar Development, national partners Grohe, Walter Engineering in Aluminum, Thorn, Zumtobel, and Architecture by Dilnoza Ahmad, along with institutional partners such as the Union of Architects of Uzbekistan and the Council for Sustainable Construction, contributed to the event. The Tashkent Architectural and Construction University served as the educational partner, and Me’mor magazine was the media partner.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Davronjon Adilov emphasized:
"Uzbekistan is implementing large-scale programs in urban development, infrastructure, and housing construction. Creating sustainable, high-quality, and functional urban environments is a top priority. SHARE Uzbekistan 2025 will strengthen professional collaboration and foster innovative solutions for the future of our cities."
Awards and Recognition
A highlight of the opening was the SHARE OPERA OMNIA AWARD for outstanding achievements in architecture, presented in 2025 to Gulshaire Magametova for her contribution to regional architecture. Uzbek architects Abdukahhor Turdiyev and Sherzod Nosirov were also recognized for their work by the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services.
Forum Themes: Sustainability and Human-Centered Urban Design
Amid Uzbekistan’s urban transformation, the forum focused on key topics shaping the cities of the future:
Urban environment transformation and the role of public spaces
Balancing dense construction with city expansion
Modular solutions and adaptive façades
Leveraging cultural heritage as a resource for modern urban planning
Sustainability and climate adaptation were central themes, with discussions on integrating natural systems and eco-technologies to build resilient, climate-ready cities.
Speakers included prominent global architects and urbanists such as Kai-Uwe Bergmann (BIG), Peter Murray (New London Architecture Society), Anne Marie Galmstrup (Galmstrup Architects), Sergey Choban (Tchoban Voss Architekten), Rainer Schmidt (Rainer Schmidt Landschaftsarchitekten), and Anouk Legrand (XTU Architects).
Dialogue Between Tradition and Innovation
SHARE Architects founder Florin Mindiridjiu noted: "SHARE forums are not only about exchanging ideas but also about creating dialogue between tradition and innovation, between countries and regions. We are grateful to everyone who supported the debut of SHARE Uzbekistan and made this event possible."
A session on "Human-Centered City Design" drew particular attention, emphasizing trust and communication in architectural practice. Participants stressed the importance of combining global experience with local knowledge to create harmonious urban spaces. Dilnoza Ahmad, founder of Perfect Design Arh and SHARE Architects’ representative in Uzbekistan, added: "SHARE Uzbekistan provides a unique opportunity to exchange experiences. These discussions help us find solutions to make our cities more modern and sustainable."
Outcomes
SHARE Uzbekistan 2025 served as a professional platform and catalyst for future collaboration among architects, contractors, and engineers from around the world, marking the start of a new phase in architectural dialogue in Central Asia and highlighting Uzbekistan’s role as a hub of regional urban transformation.
