Tashkent hosts event to discuss protection of businesses

The event titled “Protection of rights of entrepreneurship subjects: reached results and upcoming tasks” was dedicated to further improving legislation in protecting businesses and owners to further developing small and private businesses, developing recommendations and proposals, directed at further improving business environment.

At the meeting, the participants underlined that over 400 legislative acts were adopt to reform economy and serve to further liberalizing and modernizing the sphere and serving as important factor for market reforms.

The country, in particular, improved work of economic courts, expanding authorities of lawyers. Principle of priority in favour of businesses in dispute situations between state bodies and businesses was also introduced into legislation. All these help to improve protection of rights of businesses.

UzLiDeP in line with its programme tasks is working on creation of economic, organizational, legal conditions and ensuring freedom of businesses, their economic independence, etc. The faction of the party in Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan carried out some work in this direction.

To meet interests of the voters, the party holds meetings in places with voters and public to discuss new laws, before their consideration at the parliament, to develop the position of the party on them.

Uzbekistan adopted a law “On guarantees of freedom of entrepreneurship activity” to solve tasks on further expanding role and share of small and private businesses in the country’s economy.

The law clearly determines norms of protection of business entities, but still there are problems in full protection of interests of entrepreneurs.

For example, according to analysis, about 50% applications and complaints were received from voters and 73 of 144 appeals in the first quarter of 2014 were related to rights of business entities.

In majority of these appeals were related to violation of rights of businesses entities by controlling bodies and other part were result of low legal knowledge of entrepreneurs.

The meeting also noted that there are problems with payment culture between business entities, which should be solved as well.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on some other problems and adopted recommendations on eliminating them.
