Tashkent hosts event on preservation of biodiversity

The group, which includes representatives of ministries and departments, created to ensure effective implementation of the implementation of the above-mention project. The State Nature Protection Committee is executive agency of the project.

The project is aimed at integration of liabilities of Uzbekistan, accepted within the Convention for 2011-2020, to planned documents on national and industrial development through planning activities on biodiversity with participation of all interested sides. It is planned to develop new edition of national strategy and action plan on preserving biodiversity of Uzbekistan and prepare the fifth national report on biodiversity.

Uzbekistan has been a part of the UN Convention of biologic diversity since 1995. The first national report and action plan in line with the Convention was developed in 1998. In 2010, new strategic plan on preserving and sustainable use of biodiversity for 2011-2020 was adopted at the confence of the arties of the UN Convention in Aichi, Japan.

At the second session of the group, the participants considered national goals on preserving biodiversity and indicators for their execution, which will serve as base for development of new edition of national strategy and action plan on preserving biodiversity of Uzbekistan.
