Tashkent hosts conference “Media today: citizen position and humanization of society”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosted an international conference dedicated to discussing actual issues of uniting efforts of mass media, state, public and international organizations on implementation of social important media projects to enrich non-state electronic mass media on social important media products, which meets international standards and meeting national interests of the country.

Over 120 people attended the event, including heads of TV and radio stations, international organizations and diplomatic missions, state bodies, public organizations, ministries and departments.

The event was organized by the National Association of Electronic Mass Media (NAESMI) in cooperation with Kamolot, Uzbekistan Cable Television, LLC, Parliamentary Commission on management of funds of the Public Foundation on support of NGOs and other civil society under Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the offices of OSCE, UNESCO, Kondrad Adenauer Foundation in Uzbekistan.

During the event, the participants familiarized with the state proragmme “The Year of Healthy Children” and other socially important projects, implemented in Uzbekistan on the initiative of the President Islam Karimov. In particular, the attendees considered a project on production and placement of social media content and non-state TV and radio stations, as well as cable TV.

Krista Pikkat, UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan, said that social media delivers important messages to population and promote cultural and spiritual values.

Deputy Secretary-General of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Gerhard Wahlers said that mass media should be objective and journalists should work on their skills. He said that he is happy that NAESMI regularly works on improving skills of journalists.

At the conference, the socially important TV products, prepared at the seminar in Tashkent, was presented. German specialists Rene Falkner and Birgit Vetsel conducted the seminar in Tashkent from 28 April to 1 May.

Rene Falkner said that the participants of the seminar worked fruitfully and within 1.5 days the attendees prepared their materials. He said that the great work was done within the seminar.

During the conference, the OSCE handed over eight sets of equipment, which will be used at production of social-important media products.

At the end of the event, the organizers announced launch of the Six National Festival of Social media products.
