Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 February  2020, the first deputy governor of Tashkent, Davron Khidoyatov, met with World Bank urbanization experts led by Rosanna Nitti.

The World Development Bank has allocated a grant to study the sustainability of Tashkent, the mission for the technical assistance project is designed for a year and begins work on 24 February. The result of the work of experts will be a comprehensive analysis of the capital and the development of an action strategy indicating specific measures for the sustainable development of the city.

The work includes not only consulting, but also the holding of numerous training seminars for employees of various city structures. All work will be carried out in close contact and coordination with city services and interested departments, a working group is being created for this.

The training of Tashkent experts will be organized, the organizational structure of management and the infrastructure of the capital will be analyzed, and institutional and social issues of the development of the metropolis will be considered. The result of the work will be recommendations to the World Bank on the issuance of credit to support key areas for sustainable development.

In turn, representatives of the khokimiyat expressed hope that the work will identify the optimal points of application of efforts, taking into account the growth of the city and big changes in it, give recommendations on finding investors and indicate specific directions for investing and loans. Davron Khidoyatov suggested directing efforts to the study and development of the social sphere. Rosanna Nitti supported the proposal and noted that in the spectrum of the problems studied, the social sphere is given primary attention.

Also, as part of the meeting, representatives of the World Bank invited Davron Khidoyatov to an upcoming conference on urban development in Almaty and offered to speak at it.
