Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A special welcome was held today at Tashkent International Airport for 19-year-old Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov, the FIDE World Cup chess champion and the youngest winner in the tournament’s history. He arrived on Uzbekistan Airways flight HY-424 from Delhi.

The triumphal homecoming was attended by Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, representatives of sports organizations, fellow chess players, and Sindarov’s family and friends.

Sindarov secured his historic victory by defeating Chinese Grandmaster Wei Yi in the World Cup final, earning a place in the 2026 Candidates Tournament.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Sindarov the honorary title of “Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan” for his outstanding achievements in chess. As a mark of recognition, the champion received a three-room apartment, while his coaches were awarded monetary prizes.
