Tashkent Authorities Deny Rumors of Demolition of “Tashkent” Hotel
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Rumors have circulated on social media about the alleged upcoming demolition of the former “Tashkent” Hotel, now operating as Lotte City Hotel Tashkent Palace, including claims that all staff had been dismissed.
Gulnoza Kasimova, a representative of the Tashkent city administration, denied these reports on her personal Telegram channel, stating that they do not reflect reality. The source of information is the city’s Main Department of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, as well as the hotel administration. The city administration also emphasized on Facebook: “The former ‘Tashkent’ Hotel is not scheduled for demolition.”
The “Tashkent” Hotel was designed by architects Mithat Bulatov and Leonid Karash to accommodate high-level guests and delegations. It became the first hotel in the capital with a swimming pool and officially opened in October 1958 during the International Conference of Writers of Asia and Africa, whose members were the hotel’s first guests.
In 2003, hotel management was transferred to the Le Meridien brand of the French Air France company. Following a renovation in 2013, management was taken over by the Lotte network under the Japanese–South Korean brand.
