Tashkent and Prague Discuss Launch of Regular Direct Flights

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Prague and Tashkent are preparing to launch regular direct flights. This issue was discussed during an online meeting organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Czech Republic with Martin Tatek, Route Development Manager at Václav Havel International Airport, Dunyo news agency reported.

The parties discussed prospects for expanding tourist and business traffic, as well as strengthening cooperation in civil aviation.

During the talks, it was noted that Czech citizens currently enjoy a visa-free regime, and the practice of issuing tourist visas to Uzbek citizens shows a consistently positive trend.

Martin Tatek highlighted the high potential of Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical tourism for Czech travelers. He noted that tourists from the Czech Republic appreciate the country’s rich historical heritage, developed tourism infrastructure, and high level of service.

He also stated that Uzbekistan is viewed as a promising destination for Czech business representatives.

Participants agreed that the launch of regular direct flights is a key factor for the effective development of tourism cooperation and business ties. At present, most passengers must rely on connecting flights via Istanbul, which reduces the route’s attractiveness.

Direct flights on the Prague–Tashkent route will allow tour operators and individual travelers to plan trips in advance, develop tourist packages, and implement systematic marketing strategies.

The Czech side identified the national carrier, Uzbekistan Airways, as a potential key partner, while also confirming readiness to consider collaboration with other airlines, including private carriers.

To continue the focused dialogue, an additional online meeting is planned in early March with representatives of Prague Airport, the national airline, and interested private carriers.

The meeting will discuss incentives and conditions for launching regular direct flights between Prague and Tashkent.
